At SMTP2GO, we believe in giving back to our community and making a positive difference. That’s why we encourage our employees to volunteer for causes they care about, such as Conservation Volunteers New Zealand.
One of our team members, Sarah Shaw, who works as a part of the support team, recently took advantage of this opportunity and spent a day with Conservation Volunteers New Zealand. This is a non-profit organization that connects people with nature and helps them protect and restore the environment. They organize various projects and activities, such as planting native trees, removing invasive weeds and pests, monitoring threatened species, and cleaning up beaches and parks.
Sarah joined a group of 15 volunteers who were assigned to pick up rubbish in two areas near Lyall Bay, Wellington’s most popular surf beach. The weather wasn’t fantastic, but Sarah and the others did not let that stop them from putting their backs into it! They worked hard for several hours – weeding and collecting rubbish – and making the places look cleaner and greener. Sarah said that it was a rewarding experience, as she could see the visible improvement they made and the positive impact they had on the local ecosystem.
As a company that is headquartered in New Zealand, we’re proud of Sarah’s contribution to the conservation of the country’s natural heritage. We are also grateful to Conservation Volunteers New Zealand for their great work.
